Harlow, Maine
Harlow, Maine is the main location for the novella "Mr. Harrigan's Phone." Harlow is a small town of 6,000. Craig grows up in a house on a dirt road. He goes to elementary school with just a few other students. Up the hill from his humble home is a grand mansion with an elevator inside of it where Mr. Harrigan lives. Mr. Harrigan selects the town because it is quaint and charming without being touristy. He likes that there is a view, but not a spectacular view. Craig enjoys his small town, and finds it difficult to adjust once he is forced into a larger city school. However, once he gets older he is able to leave and go to college.
