Lucy Norton
Lucy is the main character of the book. She is an artistic, athletic and smart sophomore in high school. Throughout the book, she compares her life to Cinderella's life, pointing out that she has a wicked step-mother, two evil step-sisters and no friends. The reader learns early in the story that Lucy's mother passed away many years ago and, although she often suggests having a close relationship with her father, she clearly feels that they have lost much of their relationship because of his new wife. Lucy struggles with this loss throughout the book and her anger and resentment towards her father grows as he continues to be unable to truly hear and appreciate her feelings and respond to her need to spend quality alone time with him.
