Chapters 13-15 Summary
In Chapter 13, Lucy and Connor continue their relationship. They "watch" basketball games while talking on the phone and openly enjoy their relationship in school. Lucy feels like she's leading two separate lives, since everyone wants to be her friend at school while, at home, Mara and her step-sisters continue to ignore her. Several nights after she received a new bed, Lucy is having dinner with Mara and her step-sisters when Mara mentions that her friend is coming to visit. She asks Lucy if her friend can sleep in Lucy's bed while Lucy sleeps in the den. Now realizing why she got a new bed, Lucy can't stop herself from challenging Mara on this issue. She tells Mara that she has to think about giving up her room and her step-sisters enter the conversation, calling her selfish and unhelpful. When Lucy begins...
