Chapters 1-3 Summary

Chapter 1 begins with the main character, Lucy, comparing her life with Cinderella's. Like Cinderella, her mother has passed away, she has a wicked step-mother, Mara, and two evil, 12 year old twin step-sisters. Lucy states that she recently moved to New York but that her father works in San Francisco during the week, leaving her alone with Mara and her step-sisters. Lucy discusses her experience at her new school, Glen Lake High, stating that she has no friends and that this is her third new school in three years. Lucy describes several popular people in her class, including Jessica Johnson and Madison Lawler, who are best friends, and Connor Pearson and Kathryn Ford, the guy voted "best looking" and the homecoming queen.
