Chapters 5, 6, 7 and 8 Summary
In chapter five, as Jones gets a sick pass and walks away from the plant, he feels free and happy, knowing that he is going to kill the white boy. He heads for home, picking up a couple of young white hitchhikers along the way and dropping them off at a movie theater. At home, he has a shower, gets dressed, and pulls out his gun. After putting the gun in the glove compartment of his car and after killing time in "a slick, niggerish" part of town, he heads for the worksite, where he waits for the white boy to finish his shift and then follows him home. As he is dropped off at his front door, the boy looks around, sees Jones, and reacts in fear. Jones gets out of the car, taking the gun with him. The boy...
