Autumn Davis
Autumn Davis is the protagonist and narrator of If He Had Been with Me. The novel follows her through her high school experience. She often reminisces on elementary school, when she and Finny were friends, and laments middle school, when they were not.
Autumn’s signature accessory is her tiara. Her tiara symbolizes her integrity as she dares to be different in high school, where others pressure her to fit in. Autumn adores her friend group, which is made up of other misfits like her. She believes she loves her boyfriend, Jamie, and prioritizes him over herself.
When it comes to Autumn’s relationship with her parents, she is much closer to Mom than Dad. Dad spends most of his time at The Office and thus misses a great deal of family events. Autumn resents his absences and their effect on her mother, who suffers from depression...
