Summary

In Chapter 51, Angie informs her girlfriends that she is pregnant. She sounds oddly elated to Autumn. Autumn informs Finny that she is throwing a Halloween party in Chapter 52. She says her parents do not know about it and she is worried Aunt Angelina will tell them. Autumn says she thinks inviting Finny and his friends would dispel Aunt Angelina’s concerns. Finny accepts the invitation.

At lunch, Autumn’s friend group panics over Autumn’s choice of invitees. In class, Finny tells Autumn his friends will come to her party. When Autumn calls him a big partier, Finny explains that he does not usually drink since he needs to drive Sylvie home. He says, “Sylvie needs someone to look after her” (230).
