Mt. Iris

Mt. Iris is located just outside of Ponderosa, Idaho. Wade and Jenny purchase a large section of land here in 1985. Wade builds a barn, woodshed, and farmhouse on the premises. Shortly after buying their property, Wade and Jenny realize that the previous owner lied to them about the winter maintenance in the area. They learn that their six-mile trek to the nearest road would not be plowed at all throughout winter. As a result, Jenny is stuck in the barn all winter long, pregnant, and hoping for the snow to melt before she goes into labor. Meanwhile, Wade ventures into town once a week to buy groceries and supplies, and, in his free time, he chops down as many trees as he can within the area where he plans for an emergency helicopter to land in case Jenny goes into labor early.
