Summary
Ann has been communicating with Jenny about her release through a social worker. Ann moves out of Ponderosa and rents an apartment for Jenny in Moscow, Idaho and she opens a ban account for Jenny that contains all of the money June Bailey Roe sent in her letter. Ann sleeps on an air mattress in the living room. The next morning she sits in front of the window to enjoy a breakfast, and she spots a mother deer with her baby fawn. She folds her hands and prays that June has found happiness, that she has held on, “To whatever good [she] may have found” (234).
