Structure
I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteotkbokki is divided into 12 chapters, along with a prologue, an epilogue, a note from the psychiatrist, and a postscript. The prologue is meant to ease the reader into the journey, explaining not only the contents of this book but what the author is hoping the reader might draw from it, which is hope, understanding, and to feel less alone if they had the same symptoms as Sehee. The 12 main chapters vary in length with the shortest chapter being around seven pages and longest chapter going on for around twenty pages. Most, though not all, of the chapters begin with a short introduction to the chapter’s themes and ideas, and end with a short essay, either on a topic that was discussed in the therapy session or something else Sehee is interested in.
