Summary

Chapter 9: "Obsession with Appearances and Histrionic Personality Disorder" opens with dialogue, with Sehee reporting that the negative side effects from her medication have worn off. Sehee tells the psychiatrist that she wants to talk about her negative self-esteem, particularly in regard to her appearance. Sehee feels insecure that she is ugly and is reluctant to meet her partner’s friends for that reason. She talks about the discomfort she feels when others discuss her appearance or when she feels judged by society at large.
