Summary
In trying to figure out what her friend Corrine should do with her spare room, Mary talks about how her time in Nashville forced her into a new perspective. It reminded her that she could "change things" about her life, and shortly after returning, Parnassus Books reached out about a job opportunity for some marketing projects (214). Mary would return to Nashville occasionally, and she started to consider moving. She had difficulty accepting that loving her friends and not wanting to live in Atlanta could "coexist" (216). Once she and her family decided to leave, it was difficult telling friends, and many people brought up the challenge that this would pose for her kids. A lot of people did not react well to the news, and Mary compares them to sloths on a waterbed, a "gentler" version...
