Summary
In "Disambiguation," Claire lists the different cultural associations with The Oregon Trail. One of them is Anna Garvey's "theory of a microgeneration between Generation X and Millennials" called "Generation Oregon Trail" (96). She and her friends are a part of this generation.
Outside the bookstore where Claire will be reading, she, Ty, and Rust smoke weed. They talk about lucid dreaming, making art, and family life. Rust's thoughts about art make Claire question her version of art. Becoming a mother has changed how she sees herself. She had "been told many times by various constituencies that . . . avoiding parenting when you feel you're not particularly good at it" is perfectly normal (100). Claire still finds this difficult to believe.
