Feminism
The author uses the theme of feminism to drive Chris’ motivation in self-exploration and to achieve her independence. Chris is introduced as an experimental filmmaker whose work employs a feminist lens. Her artform is an expression of how she sees the world and how she wishes t be seen. She wants women to be reflected and explored in art similar to the way men are and not merely be objectified. Because Chris does not view herself as having the same privilege of women who are considered more feminine or attractive, she feels that her worth is in her intellect.
