Summary

Despite Bodie’s sequestration, Alder visits her and shows her a video from the hearing in which the defense grills a police investigator about his shoddy investigation. The investigator admits that the head of school pushed the police to “look at community members… not students, not faculty” (363). Alder also shows her a Facebook page dedicated to gathering information about Bloch.

In the hotel gym, Bodie again encounters Beth. Although Beth remains angry at Bodie, she tells her that Bloch often behaved in inappropriate ways with his female students. She confirms that Thalia and Bloch were sleeping together; she once helped Thalia shop for “sexy underwear” (370). In turn, she tells Bodie that Dorian Culler assaulted her. Bodie feels a newfound empathy for Beth.
