The speaker spends the poem declaring their feelings for an unnamed lover, who is acknowledged mostly with the pronouns “you” (6) and “your” (1), and with terms of endearment like “my dear” (3), “my darling” (4), “my sweet” (6), and so on. The speaker is absolutely enamored of their beloved and find their own identity absorbed in them. The speaker’s heart contains “your heart” (1). “Beautiful you are my world” (7), the speaker makes it known. Because the speaker’s language is entirely consumed by the beloved, it is difficult to distinguish anything about the speaker alone.
