Chapter 23 "Model on a Runway" Summary

Charlotte meets Hoyt and the others at Saint Ray house to travel to Washington D.C., for the formal. They all travel in Hoyt's SUV. Traveling together are Hoyt, Charlotte, Vance, Julian, Nicole, and Crissy. Charlotte feels very uncomfortable with the group as a whole. She feels out of place because she does not get their jokes and banter. The trip is uncomfortable but periodically Hoyt will touch Charlotte's arm or hold her hand or look at her and she feels better. They arrive at the hotel, the Hyatt Ambassador, and go to check in. Charlotte is surprised to find out that Hoyt, Julian, Nicole, and herself will all be rooming together in a room with two queen size beds. She wonders where the hotel is going to put the cots.
