Summary

Chapter V follows Norma, who awakes in the hospital. She is tied to her bed, as ordered by a social worker for her refusal to give up any information about herself or Luismi. Norma recalls that she took a potion from the Witch to terminate her pregnancy, which she then buried in the yard. When she and Luismi first had sex, he did not notice she was already pregnant. The father to Norma’s child is actually a man named Pepe.

Flashing back in time, Chabela realizes Norma is pregnant and agrees to keep it a secret from Luismi. This is when Chabela suggests that they go see the Witch so Norma can terminate the pregnancy.
