Tub
Tub, one of the central characters, is an overweight man who is friends with Frank and Kenny. Despite the fact that Frank and Kenny are Tub’s friends, they often make fun of him for his weight. They also refuse to slow their walking pace during the hunting trip to wait for Tub, who lags behind. During a pivotal moment of the story, it appears to Tub that Kenny is going to impulsively shoot him out of anger and frustration. In self-defense, Tub shoots Kenny, the bullet striking Kenny in the abdomen.
As Tub and Frank drive Kenny to the hospital, Tub demands an apology from Frank for all of the mean things that Frank said about Tub’s weight. When Frank confesses that he has been having an affair with a 16-year-old girl, Tub shows sympathy and support. Tub later confesses that he has been cheating on...
