Summary
In Chapter 39, Beauty talks about how Maggie has asked her not to interfere so much with Shakes and that group, as they make up a large part of her network and disturbing them could spook them. She tells Beauty that the only reason they cannot produce Nomsa is because she is in Rhodesia training. Beauty trusts Maggie. Beauty speaks to Wilhelmina who says she is disgusted that Edith is not around for Robin’s first birthday without her parents. Wilhelmina has been trying to keep Beauty’s presence a secret by lying to Mr. Finlay who is suspicious. Beauty asks her to keep an ear out for information about Nomsa and Wilhelmina says she is not comfortable going behind Maggie’s back. Beauty reassures her that they are not going behind Maggie’s back, they are just being observant. Wilhelmina eventually agrees.
