Summary

While Robin is ill in Chapter 33, and has a high fever, she imagines seeing Mabel trying to help her but then realizes it is not Mabel, but Beauty. She is reminded again that Mabel left her and is upset by the memory. She calls out for her mother saying that she will be good and strong if Jolene comes back. She dreams about when she was six-years-old and overheard her mother telling Edith how lucky she was not to have children. Jolene wonders if Robin’s miscarried twin would have been more like her, since Robin is so much like her father.

When Robin becomes more conscious, she sees Wilhelmina and is terrified she has come to take her away. She begs Mabel-Beauty to help her to no avail. Beauty tells Robin that Edith will be home soon but Robin does not want...
