Summary

Chapter 11 is titled “Thor is Angry.” The storm disturbs the huge sea dragons on the bottom of the sea. There are two in particular. One is “averagely enormous” and the other is “gobsmackingly vast” (139). The storm washes the two dragons onto the Vikings' beach. The larger is green, like the ocean, though he is covered with barnacles because of the centuries on the ocean floor. Badbreath the Gruff sees the dragons on the beach and rushes to tell Stoick and the others. Stoick has spent the night struggling with his decision. He does not want to banish Hiccup but he believes in the law and is disappointed that his son has not lived up to that law. By this point, he has decided he will not banish the boys.
