Summary
Part Four is titled The Pianist. The first chapter of this section is titled “Bisbee, Arizona, 1926.” Every eight years, Tom has to perform a task for Hendrich before being given everything necessary to start a new life. Tom has always been sent to convince another alba to join the Albatross Society. Tom was playing poker with a couple of men, Joe and Louis. Tom identified them both as albas. Tom cited the things he knew about the men – including that they had both supposedly died at Tombstone. Tom said everything Hendrich said – that they were always in danger and needed the Albatross Society to keep them safe. He realized he was saying exactly what Hendrich always said. The men were crooks and had established good lives for themselves with no interest in moving or the society. The men planned...
