Summary

In Chapter 9, Georgina woke from a dream in which Toby was a dog. In her dream, Mama drove them to a castle and told them it was their new home. Toby-the-dog cried and said he wanted to go home where he belonged. Trying to go back to sleep, Georgina rolled down the window to let some air into the hot car. She noticed they were parked near a church. This reminded her of the time she went to that church with her friend Racene. They made baskets out of strips of construction paper. She filled her basket with clover flowers and gave it to Mama. She was so excited to give it to her mom, but when she got home, her parents were fighting, and Mama never even looked at the basket.

The next morning, Mama took the kids to eat toast and wash...
