Summary

Georgina got ready for school in the bathroom at McDonald’s. Her hair was greasy and she tried to scrub her face and arms with a rough paper towel. After spending the weekend in the abandoned house, Georgina decided she’d rather sleep in the car instead. To make things better, Mama bought a plastic raft at a yard sale so the kids could take turns sleeping on it. Georgina knew if things didn’t improve soon, she would have to steal Willy as planned. She noticed Mama was losing a lot of weight because her clothes were so loose. Mama dropped the kids off at a corner, and they walked to their bus stop.
