Book 3, Chapter 8 Summary
Marjorie was Jenna and Tony's stepmother when they were very young. She was abusive and angry. Yet, Jenna loved her. She was the only mother Jenna could remember having. Jenna tried not to tell her father about Marjorie because she did not want her dad to have any more pain. She wanted to be strong for her father.
Book 3, Chapter 8 Analysis
The reader sees that even when Jenna was four years old, she could understand that her father was hurt very much by her mother's death. Marjorie was his new wife and she must please them both. We realize all Jenna wanted was the love that she had lost when her mother died, even if it was from an abusive person.
