Summary
Yunior goes to greet the date’s mother, and he notes that his date looks good. He mentions different possibilities as to the date’s race and socioeconomic background. He thinks of girls from out of town, who live in the suburbs and who have a wealthy family. He states, “If she’s a halfie don’t be surprised that her mother is white” (145). Yunior and the mother greet each other cordially. The mother says that she needs easier directions in order to find her way out of the neighborhood. Yunior notes in narration that the best directions are the ones that he wrote down and that the mother already has, but he acts polite and recites new directions.
