Summary

“Week Five” contains two chapters. In “Raina,” the women return for the last time to the YMCA. Raina arrives first—right after she sends her daughter to college. She is wearing a small dress from another time in her life, which she had found in a storage shed she’d looked through last week. When the others arrive, she starts her story.

About 20 years ago, her father had approached Jake Jackson and a bar and told him to hire his beautiful daughter, who was 20-years old and worked at the Centerville Queen Diner so she could afford community college.
