Female Agency

Throughout her book Moran beats the drum of female pleasure. Almost nothing is off limits to her, and no act is inherently sexist. Sexism only arises when women are unable to act from a self-willed position of seeking their own joy. For example, Moran doesn’t believe pornography itself is immoral or sexist, but the current popular narrative that revolves around bored looking women receiving ejaculate in their faces, is sexist. Porn that showed both partners having orgasms, for example, would not be sexist. Strip clubs are inherently sexist because they are joyless and make desire a financial transaction rather than a pleasurable one, yet women who take pole dancing classes and do private strip teases for their partners are acceptable to Moran.
