Armand Gamche
Armand Gamache is the Chief inspector for the homicide department of the Surete de Quebec. He is the hero of the novel. Gamache is first called by his friend, Myrna, in Three Pines to investigate the disappearance of her friend, Constance. Gamache discovers the woman, who was the last living sister of the Ouellet Quints, was murdered. Although the quints’ conception and birth made up an important chapter in Quebec’s history, Constance’s death is soon overshadowed by Gamache’s investigation of a personal matter.
Gamache has enlisted Jerome Brunel to help his discover who might have leaked a video of a factory raid that went bad. Although there was nothing Gamache could have done to keep the raid from going bad, many man were injured and killed that day.
