Summary
In Chapter Thirty-seven, it is Myrna and the other residents of Three Pinses at Emilie’s front door. She persuades them to hide at her house. Meanwhile, Gamache has gone to the Villeneuve home. Villeneuve will not let Gamache in until he learns Gamache is with homicide. He tells Gamache he thought someone had killed Audrey but didn’t know who. He’d noticed she’d been upset but hadn’t asked why. He added he thought it was unusual that detectives had taken everything, including Audrey’s computer. When he mentions that Audrey was afraid to use the tunnel, Gamache suspects it is this structure that is the target of Francoeur and his people. Before he leaves, Gamache learns Audrey had seemed happier when she learned the premier would be attending the office Christmas party. Gamache believes Audrey planned to tell the premier...
