Chapter Two: Pretty Ugly Summary
After her initial day of school and having both Miles and Shanna be nice to her, Maggie decides that she's not working hard enough at being unpopular. She chooses a funky dress that looks like she belongs in a Laura Ingalls Wilder book. Again, Miles confronts her at then entrance to the school. He asks her why she's dressing like that and why she won't talk to him. He taunts her suggesting that she is acting "too good" to be near him.
She sits with Penny again and notices that Penny is wearing a dress that is very similar to the one she wore that morning as a costume. Penny irritates her, but Maggie believes that sitting with Penny everyday will make her more unpopular.
