Summary
"Henosis" is the satirical tale of an author's kidnapping by his greatest fan. The story consists of six “novel” chapters that are given to us out of order. The story opens with "Chapter Four," in which a woman asks Harkim, the famous author, whether some people are going to kill him, and he replies to her, "Of course they are" (333). In Chapter Two, Harkim realizes that the driver taking him to an awards ceremony in a limousine is not his regular driver. Instead, it is the woman who is little more than a silhouette driving. She refers to herself as "just a fan" (334). In Chapter One, Harkim meets a woman at a book signing who is holding an old and tattered copy of his first novel, The Mighty Bob.
