Pages 315 - 374 Summary
After Ally leaves, Sammy reflects on his blindness, and the difficulties of living with a disability. He feels very tired and overwhelmed by his situation, but after a while he starts to feel more positive and in control. He regains some self-respect and resolves to escape with his head held high, clean and shaven. Before taking his leave, however, he sets out in the pouring rain to buy some food to take with him. He find the walk to the shops very hard-going, he is getting soaked, he is shivering, he has no energy, he has pains in his joints, and he succumbs to another panic attack, but eventually gets to the shops and buys his food.
