Siberia, Russia

Siberia, Russia is where Clara is researching prior to her death. The research the team is conducting at the Siberian outpost "is funded, in partnership, with the International Fund for Planetary Survival" (5). Before Clara discovers the body of a mysterious Neanderthal girl in a nearby cavern, the group keeps busy by studying "soil and ice core samples and the occasional ancient animal carcass" (5). The discovery the Ice Age girl, named Annie, distracts them from these endeavors. The girl's existence in the area is a mystery to the team, and makes them excited to learn more about the past.

After Clara dies, her father Cliff travels to Siberia to complete her work. He is surprised when he arrives at the outpost. He realizes not only how much Clara was loved by her colleagues, but by the significance of her work. Staying in her sleeping pod, studying the belongings...
