Summary
In Chapter 22, over the next week Amma covers for Belinda’s poor behavior. She tells Nana that Belinda must be homesick, and that it would be best not to press her about it. As Amma spends more time with her mother, she realizes that Nana is getting old. Amma asks her how she knew that Doctor Otuo was the one for her, and Nana tells her that she knew he could protect her from the bad things that poor people in Ghana faced. Nana tells Amma that her hair looks nice, after initially telling her that it did not bring out her best, and then remarks that Amma has never needed endorsement from her anyway.
