Summary
Chapter 14 is split between Belinda’s and Amma’s voices, opening with a morning after a sleepless night for Belinda. She reflects on the previous evening, thinking about how nice it was to be friendly with Amma at the Ghanafoɔ. She makes her way downstairs and is out in the garden when Nana surprises her. The woman gives her robe to Belinda to wear, and asks her about the night before. She tells Belinda that she understands that Amma can be persuasive, and that Belinda doesn’t have to worry about being in trouble. Nana then tells Belinda that she has to find a way to be close to Amma every day, and suggests that Belinda make Amma walk her to school every day. Nana hugs Belinda, and she feels protected.
