Point of View
House of Sky and Breath is told in the third-person point-of-view. While it is limited in scope - as the narrative remains constrained to each character's thoughts - the author does shift between numerous different characters. This often occurs from scene to scene and is usually accompanied by a change in setting. However, sometimes the narrative focus shifts between characters within the same scene. This allows the author to explore each person's thoughts without breaking the limited point-of-view. This builds a unique tension between both the characters and the readers as the author can shift point-of-views whenever she wants, leaving plot threads to be discovered in future scenes. Ironically, this creates an odd situation where the reader cannot always trust the narrating character.
