Summary
Chapters 25 and 26 see the Thaumases awoken by Lenore’s screams. She is nearly incoherent and claims she senses that Rosalie and Ligeia are dead. They are not in the triplets’ room so Annaleigh comforts her, finding a branch with berries tangled up in Lenore’s hair. A search party begins, and Annaleigh and Cassius together follow the clue of the branch to the part of the forest it comes from. There, they find the frozen bodies of Rosalie and Ligeia.
In Chapters 27 and 28, Rosalie and Ligeia are laid to rest in the family crypt, with everyone mourning deeply. The remaining Thaumas sisters are beside themselves with grief, and Lenore no longer speaks to anyone. Fisher approaches Annaleigh with his own suspicions that the girls were murdered, just like Eulalie. Annaleigh realizes he may be right, but his suspicions about Cassius leave her on...
