Summary
Chapters 9 and 10 of House of Salt and Sorrows describe the final preparations before the triplets’ ball. Hanna and Camille are getting ready for the big night and are dismissive of Annaleigh’s claim that Verity is seeing ghosts. While taking a bath, Annaleigh suddenly sees her bath transformed into an inky mess, with a giant octopus trying to drown her. The spontaneous and horrific moment is gone as quickly as it came, for Camille knocks on the bathroom door and wakes Annaleigh up from what she assumes is a nightmare. However, she does have bruises on her back. At the ball, she and the other sisters are eager to begin dancing and tire of the boring introductions.
