Act 2, Part 2 Summary
Teresa curses when she finds out that the Officer never gave the Soldier the cigarettes she brought. The Soldier tells her not to swear and adds that she should never trust officers. Hearing Monsewer practicing again, they discuss how he came to be so Irish and that fights between the Irish and English have been happening for centuries. Conversation reveals that the Irish prisoner is in jail because he shot a British police officer. This leads to an argument over which side is right, the British or the Irish, which in turn leads to a discussion of where they were each born and raised. The Soldier reveals that he is an orphan, and that his mother ran off with a Pole.
Monsewer comes in with Pat while they discuss how badly he played but saying that his playing will be better...
