Act 1, Part 3 Summary

Princess Grace comes in, bringing not only her rent but also news that Mulleady has a woman in his room. Meg becomes angry and calls Mulleady down, saying this isn't that kind of house. Mulleady comes in and Meg confronts him. Mulleady tells her to calm down, Pat wonders what the big deal is, and Meg indicates she feels betrayed after everything she said and did to defend him when he ran away with the church funds.

Miss Gilchrist is heard singing, and doesn't answer at first when Meg and Mulleady call her to come down. Eventually she does come down, responds to angry inquiries about what her name means with haughty comments that it means "servant of Christ," and indicates that she is a very religious woman.
