Act 1, Part 2 Summary
Mulleady hurries in shouting for Pat's help as the prostitute Colette confronts a Polish sailor who doesn't speak much English. Mulleady says Colette shouldn't have to service him because he's a Communist, but Pat says all that matters is that the sailor has money. The sailor shows a handful of notes, Meg and Pat comment that money is the best religion and the best form of politics, Colette takes the money, and Pat indicates that the sailor should follow her into her room. After they've gone, Mulleady complains that Meg hasn't given him back the shirts he gave her to be laundered. She tells him to stop complaining or else she'll ask for the rent money he owes. After a brief argument Mulleady goes out without his shirt, and Meg complains they'll allow anybody to live there. Pat says the tenants'...
