Summary
Olya spent the remainder of the summer at her family’s cottage. She had such a nice time, she almost forgot about Boris.
On “the first Monday of September,” Olya had a violin lesson with her teacher Mikhail. When he told her “Nao, nao, nao,” insisting she was playing the piece incorrectly, Olya remembered Boris and smiled (152).
Olya met Boris at the Pushkin Monument. She remembered him telling her he was a “construction manager” (153). Then they took a car to his apartment. While washing her hands, Olya was momentarily afraid Boris would cut her up (155).
Boris served Olya a nice-looking dish. He set her up at the table without a drink. Clutching a pillow, he told her to eat. Olya tried not to look at him. Boris mumbled and trembled. After Olya was done, Boris paid her.
