Summary

Chapter 50. The first vehicle to arrive on the scene is Little Beast, with Steve hopping out followed shortly by Barack. Conversation reveals that they had tracked Joe’s phone in the aftermath of his failed phone call, and that police are searching for the undercover DEA agent. Conversation is interrupted by Dan, severely wounded but still determined and holding the gun that he had kept hidden during his initial confrontation with Joe. Joe leaps for Barack, covering him as Steve shoots it out with Dan, who ends up dead. Joe realizes he is not wounded, but that there is a hole in his jacket – the bullet struck the Medal of Freedom, which will need a bit of repair but which is ultimately as it was.
