Summary
Chapter 26. Joe goes to the Donnelly’s house, where he finds Grace trying to clean up. She shows Joe the DEA’s search warrant, and Joe tells her about the map and the drugs found in Finn’s pocket. Grace reacts with disbelief, saying what most everybody else has thought, including Joe – that Finn did not even drink, let alone use drugs. Joe keeps quiet about the other things he is thinking about – the stained floor at the hotel, the possibility of foul play, the possibility that Finn was somehow set up. “Hope was one thing; false hope was another” (161). He does mention the duffel bag that Finn had at the restaurant, but Grace says that as far as she knows, her father did not have one. She adds that if he did, it has gone missing, just like his pocket watch...
