Summary

In Chapter 18, Mickey “spent much of the following week” with Tee despite her friends’ warnings (182). They attended events, hung out, and talked honestly. They shared their dreams, fears, and questions. One night, Mickey started fantasizing about “never going back to New York” (182). She had once pitied the people who had stayed in her hometown. Now she wondered if this life was okay after all. Although she worried about Lex, choosing Lex “didn’t quite feel like choosing herself” anymore (183). She casually researched jobs in DC.

Lying in bed, Mickey thought about Tee and Lex. She was thankful Tee “didn’t ask questions” about her work and future (185).
