Summary

In Chapter 6, three weeks into her unemployment, Mickey started to dread “Lex coming home from work” (62). She spent her days watching television, looking at her phone, and eating takeout. Ashamed, she “tried to hide it all from Lex” (63).

Lex suggested “coming over to do some copywriting” for Something Else (64). The idea angered Mickey. She felt embarrassed, as “Lex was industrious” (65). When Lex urged her to talk about her feelings, Mickey shut down. She wondered if Lex “didn’t understand” or see her (66).

In Chapter 7, Mickey decided to try harder. She spent the day cleaning and tending to her appearance.
