Summary
From Annabelle Rosenmerck to Harry Rosenmerck – New York, May 3, 2009. In language that seems somewhat bitter, Annabelle writes to Harry from a restaurant near the small theatre (The Flea) where David is premiering his new play, the same theatre where he had his first real success with a play called “Who Am I?” She comments that “the reality is that he’s still brilliant, but a lot less so since he’s said that he is” (39). She suggests that that opening was the last time the family was together, suggesting that her grandmother’s funeral was, in fact, the last actual time but at that point, the family was not really “together.” She imagines that the distance between Harry and David has been hard, and offers to bring David with her when she comes to visit the following week.
