Summary

In Chapter 39, set July 29, 2021, Penny’s anger with Holly changes to fear. She worries that something might have happened to her.

Holly wakes in pain. She is in a cage. She knows she has to get her wits back if she wants to survive.

Roddy is sitting on the front porch drinking coffee and waiting for the police. So far, no one has come asking about Holly. As a precaution, he and Emily drove Holly’s car back to her apartment building.

Emily and Roddy walk down the stairs to talk to Holly. As Holly watches them walk down the stairs, she is surprised they were able to take her prisoner. Holly learns that Roddy and Emily are kidnapping people to eat them.
